One point I'd like to make is that, if you're going to join the online community, it's a good idea to learn and understand these seven golden rules:
1: Never post your real name online
2: Never post your real hometown online
3: Never post your real state online (countries are okay.)
4: Always approch others with caution
5: If someone adds you to their instant message contacts, ask where they got your information from, and from who. Then, clarify it with the person they say gave them your info. Also, keep seperate passwords for everything.
6: If you're under 16, I would not advise posting your age online
7: Always make sure your friends know these seven rules. Whether or not they follow them is up to them, but at least you yourself will be safe.

Okay, I've been an active RPer on the internet for at least three years now, and I thought that perhaps it was time I shared with the world a few safety tips I've learned and explored over the years.
As such, here I've written what I call The Seven Golden Rules of the Online Community. These basic pointers a beleive cover most general safety guidelines that I feel everyone, miners especially (peeps under 18), should follow. There, I feel better now. |
